Teagan White | I’ve been following Teagan’s work for a while and am always impressed with the fluidity of her line, her attention to details and her color combinations. Teagan is a freelance designer and illustrator originally from Chicago, currently based in Minneapolis, MN. She is studying for a BFA in Illustration at the Minneapolis College of Art and Design and has already created work for Target, Nike, The NFL, Coca-Cola, Anthropologie and WIRED Magazine.The images above are from a self-initiated redesign of the Joanna Newsom album Ys.
My goal for this project was the creation of a narrative pattern which incorporates elements of a story in a way that allows the viewer to spend time searching within the design and making discoveries. Joanna Newsom’s album Ys is richly lyrical and narrative, so I chose to illustrate the ten-minute long song “Monkey & Bear” in the format of a CD cover. I also altered the color palette and composition to create a decorative pattern that does not have to be associated with the musical content to be appreciated.
